Jason Glenna

Jason Gregory Glenna, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on November 6, 1969, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Jason brought joy and laughter into the lives of everyone he encountered, and he will be deeply missed.

A passionate and hard-working individual, Jason graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 1988 and furthered his education at the Devry Institute for Restaurant Management.

He began his first job at Chisago Lakes Distributing,  also recycling and mowing lawns, all in hopes of saving enough money to buy his first 10-speed bicycle.  He honed his culinary skills at KC Masterpiece BBQ & Grill in Overland Park, Kansas. Jason’s career flourished as he took on the role of Kitchen Manager at Darryl's Wood Fired Grill, where he was instrumental in revitalizing underperforming locations. His journey eventually brought him back to Minnesota to help run the family restaurant, The New Spot, which he closed in 2007. Jason’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to work as a salesman for Chisago Lakes Distributing, a salesman for Coca-Cola, and to manage a liquor store.  A man of many interests, Jason was deeply passionate about sports. He founded a co-ed restaurant softball league in Kansas City, coached women’s softball, and held a special place in his heart for the Kansas City Chiefs. His love for music, particularly The Grateful Dead, was a defining aspect of his life, and he often shared the wisdom found in their lyrics. Jason was known for his soft-hearted and compassionate nature; he listened intently to those around him and always had a sarcastic joke or a light-hearted nickname for everyone he met. A deep thinker, he often reflected on life’s complexities, epitomized in the song “Ripple.”

Jason will be remembered not only for his kindness but for the way he made others feel valued and understood. His infectious spirit touched everyone he came in contact with, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved, and who loved him.

Jason was the son of Walter and Barbara Glenna.

He is survived by Walter (Sue), sister Nicole “Nicci’ Glenna, Megan Slater and Mike Slater; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Glenna, his brother Christopher Glenna and his grandparents, Cleon and Florence Glenna, and Bart and Helen Lundquist.

Visitation will be held on September 10, 2025 from 10 am to 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City, Mn followed by the funeral service at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be preferred.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff at Fairview Wyoming, especially Nurse Emily. A special thank you goes to Adam Gould, Bob Haris, Brian and Sarah Dassner and Dale Jr. and Brandi Colberg for their unwavering friendship and support.

In every memory, in every story shared, Jason’s spirit will continue to shine brightly among us, reminding us of the profound impact one soul can have on the lives of many. “Who loves ya, baby?” We do, Jason. Rest in Heaven.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
