A group of Wild River State Park maple syruping program visitors were involved in a Saturday session, tapping trees near Reed Avenue and Park Trail, when a tree fell injuring a few of those participating. The accident was reported about 10:45 a.m. April 4.  The injured were attended to by Almelund Fire Dept. First Responders, park staff and county sheriff deputies. Two were transported by ambulance. In total, three females and a male who is a spouse to one, were affected.

The Towards Zero Deaths traffic enforcement saturation netted a number of cellphone use citations over last week. In Minnesota there is a hands-free law that prohibits holding a mobile device while operating a vehicle.  Multiple police agencies were involved in the TZD effort.

April 1 a crash at Shoquist and Stinson (by the boat landing) in Chisago City, was reported about 11:35 a.m. Two vehicles were involved, no personal injury reported.

March 31

Chisago City Fire and local police responded to a call of a carbon monoxide alarm at an address on Ironwood, about 2:30 a.m.  No substance detected and cause is thought to have been a faulty alarm.

Chisago City firefighters also were sent on a call of an “explosion” at a Chisago City business, about 3:15 p.m. No injury and/or damages found.
