Terry Duane Nelson, age 77, passed away peacefully Monday, March 30, 2026 at his home in Lindstrom, MN.

Terry was born October 28, 1948 in St. Croix Falls, WI to parents Samuel and Katherine (Engdahl) Nelson. After high school, Terry was drafted into the military and served two years during the Vietnam War. While in the military, he spent time on the U.S.S. Ranger as a gunner’s mate. He was awarded Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Terry remained a proud veteran throughout his life.

Terry enjoyed fishing, and hunting and being outdoors, but his favorite moments were riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.

Terry is survived by his wife of 30 years Gayle (Johanson); sons Randy and Bob Nelson, daughter Angela (Jess) Swanepoel, grandchildren Wyatt and Wiley Nelson and Jacob and Emma Swanepoel, nieces Samantha and Tiffany Jose, and nephew  Ron Nelson. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Nelson, and sister Sherry Jose.

Celebration of Life for Terry will take place at 10 AM Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, MN. Memory sharing will begin at 11AM. Arrangements with Grandstrand Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
