Wildcats struggling to come out of winter hibernation
Hudson Valley 15, Chisago Lakes 1 (5 innings)
The Wildcat baseball team opened the season at home on Tuesday, April 7 with what will likely be their toughest game of the year and got crushed by the Hudson Raiders 15-1. Trenton Travis drove in Kellen Meissner with the only Wildcat run of the game in the fourth inning, which was shortened to five innings due to the ten-run rule.
Monticello 8, Chisago Lakes 3
The Monticello Magic scored eight runs in the fourth through sixth innings to beat the Wildcats 8-3 Thursday, April 9 at Monticello. Kellen Meissner’s two-run double in the fifth inning gave the Wildcats a 3-2 lead, but the Magic re-took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth top and scored four times in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Big Lake 6, Chisago Lakes 2
The Wildcats dropped to 0-3 on the season with a loss to the Big Lake Hornets 6-2 at home at Pat Collins Field on Friday, April 10. The Wildcats cut the Big Lake lead to 4-2 with run-scoring singles by Trenton Travis and Quinn LeVasseur in the bottom of the third inning but got no closer as Big Lake added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to salt away the win.
Baseball Banter
The Wildcats will face the Princeton Tigers tonight at 5 p.m. at Chisago Lakes High School. They will head out to Cambridge-Isanti High School on Monday, April 20 to take on the Bluejackets at 5 p.m. And they will return to their home field on Tuesday, April 10 to play the Zimmerman Thunder at 5 p.m.
