GIRLS

The Chisago Lakes girls lacrosse team turned in a pair of impressive performances last week, dominating Becker before following it up with a strong win over the Robbinsdale Wings co-op.

The Wildcats opened the week with a commanding 20-0 shutout of Becker, controlling every aspect from the opening draw. Chisago Lakes jumped out to a 7-0 lead after one quarter and never slowed down.

Camryn Hinsch led the offensive outburst with five goals and two assists, while Naomi Eaton added three goals and three assists. Linnea Carlson chipped in four goals and an assist, and Raeann Goehring and Madelyn Barten each scored twice. In goal, Michaela Altendorf and Libby Carlson combined for the shutout on three Bulldog shots.

The Lady ‘Cats carried that momentum into a 16-10 win over Robbinsdale’s co-op on Friday, April 17. The Wildcats again started fast, building a 7-2 lead after the first quarter.

Hinsch continued her strong play with six goals, while Eaton added three goals and an assist. Katelyn Anderson scored twice, and the Wildcats spread out the scoring with contributions from several players.

Despite a push from the Wings in the second half, Chisago Lakes maintained control behind consistent offensive pressure and timely defense.

With the two wins, the ‘Cats moved to 4-0 on the young season.

BOYS

The Chisago Lakes boys lacrosse team put together a complete performance on Tuesday, April 14, rolling past Becker 11-3 at Chisago Lakes High School.

After a competitive opening quarter that ended in a 2-2 tie, the Wildcats took control and never looked back. Chisago Lakes outscored the Bulldogs 3-0 in the second quarter to grab a 5-2 halftime lead, then continued to pull away with strong play on both ends of the field in the second half.

Offensively, the Wildcats were led by Oliver Bushweiler, who had a monster night with five goals and two assists for seven total points. Liam Sullivan added three goals and an assist, while Landon Kerkow chipped in two goals and one assist. Jase Kelley also found the net and added an assist as Chisago Lakes showcased its balanced attack.

The Wildcats’ depth was evident throughout, with six assists spread among multiple players, including helpers from Dylan Cuffel, Sullivan, Kerkow, Bushweiler and Kelley.

On defense, Chisago Lakes limited Becker’s opportunities and controlled possession for much of the game. The Wildcats also dominated ground balls, finishing with 31 compared to Becker’s 10.

In goal, Chase Miller turned in a strong performance, recording 11 saves and allowing just two goals on 13 shots.

The win is the lone victory for CL so far this season, with their record standing at 1-3.
