Darlene Mae Christie, age 88, died Tuesday, April 14th 2026 peacefully at Sophie’s Manor in Centuria, Wisconsin. She was a resident of Sophie’s Manor for several years, and beloved by staff and her fellow residents. Thank you to Sophie’s Manor, their staff and Adoray Hospice for providing a wonderful level of care, compassion, and comfort.

Darlene was born on February 14, 1938, in Ord, Nebraska to Robert Long and Rose Novotny. She graduated Ord High and was later united in marriage with Robert Christie on September 22, 1963. Darlene was a florist and music teacher  much of her life. She enjoyed singing, dancing, painting, and playing her accordion.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Robert Long and Rose Novotny and by her loving husband Robert Christie.

She is survived by her son Tony, his wife Amanda, and their children Luke and Amelia; her daughter Tera, her husband Gunner, and her son Dylan.

Due to covid and safety concerns at the time of his passing, no service was provided for her late husband Robert. Both Darlene and Robert will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 11 am. Arrangements are with Grandstrand Funeral Home, Osceola, WI.
