Anita Herring
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Anita (Romleski) Herring, on August 19, 2026.
Anita was born to Arthur and Doris Sprague on November 18, 1940, in Machias, Maine. After marrying her first husband, Allen Romleski, they traveled with the Air Force and raised five children, eventually settling in Osceola, Wisconsin. Anita worked at Osceola Nursing Home for 20 years. Later in life she reunited with and married her high school sweetheart, Earl Herring, on September 23, 2007, in Kipling, NC, where they resided together until his passing on July 6, 2021.
Anita had a passion for keeping in touch with all her family and friends whether through calling, texting, or the many letters and postcards she sent out each year. She so dearly missed her friends from her church in Kipling, NC, after she sold her home to share time with her family in Nashville, TN and Shafer, MN. She was always excited to see everyone, and they would always receive a warm welcome and hug, whether at a store, her home, or at church. She loved going out to eat, endlessly shopping, writing short stories, doing puzzles, and most especially visiting with and being around her children, friends, and grandchildren.
Anita will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children: daughters, Dottie Howe (Bill) and Pattie Romleski and her sons, Donnie Romleski (Natalie) and Paul Romleski (Peggy); her daughter-in-law Renee Romleski her step-daughter, Cindy Hayes (John), her half-brother, David Sprague; her grandchildren, Melissa Sumner (David), Dani Trent (Derek), Joel Romleski, Amber Romleski, Maxx Romleski, Rhema Romleski, Nash Romleski, Todd Romleski, Greg Romleski, Matthew Romleski, and Samantha Romleski; and her two great-grandchildren, Alex Boyd and Cooper Trent.
Anita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Herring, her parents, Arthur and Doris Sprague, her son, Ronnie Romleski, and her grandson, Nicholas Mooney.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom with visitation starting at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Osceola.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anita’s honor to either the American Lighthouse Foundation, PO Box 565, Rockland, ME 04841 https://lighthousefoundation.org/how-to-help/support/memorial-donation/, or to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203, alivehospice.org/get-involved/give/
