December 24, 1944 – February 12, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Gary Edward Hudoba, who peacefully passed away at his home in Chisago City on February 12, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1944, Gary was a man of remarkable character, generosity, and humor. A proud Air Force veteran, he served from 1966 to 1970, spending three years stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
Gary graduated from Mounds View High School in 1962 and from Dunwoody as an Electronics Technician in 1966. His career path combined his love for technology and problem-solving. He retired in 2004 after 33 years at Qwest telecommunications company. Outside of his professional life, Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, or a good run or soccer game with his family. Gary cherished the outdoors and the time spent with loved ones. He also had a love for woodworking and electronics which was evident in his many hobbies and projects, that brought joy to his family and others.
Gary was a jokester at heart, always quick with a “Dad joke”. On the day he passed, when asked if there was anything we could do for him, his response was a final testament to his love for the outdoors and his easygoing spirit: “Let’s go fishing.”
He was married to his beloved wife, Gloria Nell Irlbeck, on May 27, 1967, and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Gary leaves behind his wife, Gloria, and their children: Brian (Larisa), Bruce (Missy), Mark (Kelly), Dale (Michael), and Sara (Mic). He is also survived by eight grandchildren who brought him much joy in his later years.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Julia Hudoba. He is survived by his twin sister, Janie Rolf, and his sister, Carol (Paul) Wellen, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Bridget's of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom with visitation one hour prior to service at church. Family interment will take place at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Canada.
Gary’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him — through the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the love he so freely gave. May he rest in peace, forever in the presence of the God he believed in, and may his family find comfort in the knowledge that Gary’s memory will continue to inspire, bring joy, and, above all, make us smile.
