The Wildcats won two of three dual meets at the Harding Duals on Saturday, January 3 at Harding High School.  Grant Hanson (107) and Conner Aspenson (121) won their matches, but the Wildcats trailed 18-12 after 133 pounds due to three forfeits.  The Wildcats won three of the net six weights: Lucas Yang (139) by pin, Bruce Sweno by major decision, and Brannick Malchow (160) by pin – but still trailed 34-28 heading into the final two matches of the day.  Wildcat Connor Bresnahan (215) pinned Bishop Vang to tie the match at 34-34, and Matt Raboin (285) pinned Alexander Lee to clinch the 40-34 dual win for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats were beaten handily by Alexandria 57-17 and by Stewartville 53-20.  Grant Hansen (107) was undefeated for the Wildcats on the day, winning all three of his matches.

Wildcat Girls Wrestling

The Wildcat girls participated in Belle of the Border II in St. James on Saturday, January 3.  Wildcat wrestlers participated at three different levels in the tournament, and two Wildcats came away with first place finishes:  Ruby Schlender (170) in the junior varsity division, and Sophie Strub (138.2-145.3) in the rookie division.

Wrestling Whangdoodles

The girls wrestled in a quadrangular last night at St. Croix Lutheran Academy, with results not available in time for publication this week.  The boys will wrestle St. Francis in a dual meet tomorrow night at St. Francis High School, with matches getting underway at 6 p.m.
