Darlene F. Mellgren, age 66, of Chisago City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 7, 2026. 

Darlene is survived by loving husband, Tom; son Michael (Emily) Mellgren of Stillwater; grandchildren Marcus Udovich, Ethan Berry, Skylar Barber, Dylan Barber, Jack Mellgren and Abby Mellgren; brother, John (Judy) Pohl of North Branch, sister Karen (John) Nelson of Fountain Hills, AZ, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and friends. Preceded in death by parents Alton and Mary Pohl of North Branch; sister Annette Fredrickson; daughters Melissa and Michelle Mellgren. 

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She lost her yearlong battle with cancer, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those that knew her. 

Darlene attended North Branch Senior High, and worked for the school system in adulthood. She spent the remaining years of her life living in Chisago City, working for Thrifty White Pharmacy in Lindstrom. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, which was also where she and Tom were married in 1977. Darlene will be dearly missed. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, Friday, January 23, 2026 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in North Branch with a visitation held one hour prior to mass at church on Friday.  Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in North Branch.
