Somerset Triangular

The Viking wrestling team headed across the border for a triangular at Somerset Middle School and came away with a split in their two duals on Thursday, January 8.  They lost to Spring Valley 35-33 and crushed Somerset, the host team, 72-11.

The Vikings dominated Spring Valley in the early and middle weights.  But with the Vikings leading 33-19 after Aydan Loren’s pin at 175 pounds, Spring Valley swept the top three weights with a major decision, a pin, and a forfeit to squeak by with a 35-33 win.  Somerset was not competitive with the Vikings, who scored their 72 points on seven pins and five forfeits.

Washington Technology Magnet School Dual

The next night, the Vikings came away with a 60-15 dual meet win in front of the home fans at North Branch High School against Washington Technology Magnet School.  Over the course of two nights, four Vikings scored the maximum of 18 points:  Hunter Kovarik (107), Tucker Kovarik (114), Aiden Schwartz (152), and Ayden Loren (172).

The Vikings will head to Zimmerman High School for a dual meet tonight at 6 p.m.  On Saturday, they will take part in the 15-team St. Croix Lutheran Invitational, with matches getting underway at 9:30 a.m.
