Robert “Bob” Joseph White, age 70 of Shafer, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, January 15, 2026 after almost a year-long battle with cancer.

Bob was born in Rush City, MN to Melvin and Carolyn (Anderson) White on May 21, 1955. At an early age, the family moved to Wyoming, MN and then to rural Stacy, MN, where Bob spent his childhood years. During his younger years, Bob enjoyed playing softball. He attended Chisago Lakes High School and graduated in 1973. In 1971, Bob met Deloris Heckel at Stacy Days, although Bob didn’t make a great first impression kissing Deloris and getting a slap in the face in return. They ended up together and were blessed with their first child, Christopher, in 1972. 

Bob and Deloris were then united in marriage on June 23, 1973 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stacy. For a short time, they lived with Bob’s family before moving to Wyoming, MN. In 1974, they had their second child, Corey, followed by their third child, Tammy, in 1976. Bob and Deloris built a house down the road from Bob’s family home in 1977, where they would raise their family. Bob worked through the years as a welder and was very accomplished in the trade. He could weld anything and spent years welding gas lines. 

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, and spending time with his grandkids. Many hours were spent fishing and hanging out at “the lake.” He also enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables—always trying to perfect his mother’s pickles but never getting it quite right. Family was everything to Bob, and they will all miss him dearly.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn; brother Don; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Oma Heckel. 

He is survived by his wife Deloris; children, Christopher (Sandi Williams), Corey and Tammy; grandchildren, Hunter, Addisen, Brittaney and Dakota; great-grandchildren, Emery and Eden; father Melvin; brothers, Ron (Bev), Randy (Roxanne), John (Dawn), and Ed (Anne); sister-in-law Donna (Tom Schulte) White; long-time family friend, Clark (Nancy Antonson) Kubat; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family.

The funeral service will be held 10:30am on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stacy, MN with a visitation one hour prior. There will be a luncheon to follow.
