Barbara Lunsford
On June 18, 2026, Barbara Kathleen Lunsford entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior.
She was born October 4, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio to Charles Lehman and Henrietta (Finke) Lehman. She graduated from Memorial High School in St. Mary’s, Ohio and then attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956. On June 5 of that same year, she married Joseph Harold Lunsford, and they moved to Milstead, Alabama where Harold served as pastor for two churches within the Methodist Church system. During that time, their first child, Duane Lunsford, was born. After two years they moved to St Mary’s, OH and raised three more children–Sherri (Lunsford) Kegerreis, Wayne Lunsford, and Rebecca (Lunsford) Lykins. Barbara has seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Once her children were school-aged, she began teaching kindergarten in the St Mary’s School System, first at Moulton Elementary and then later at West Elementary School.
She loved sewing, quilting, embroidery, crochet, painting and her canine companions. She also loved traveling, and she planned family vacations throughout the continental US for her children to experience the full breath of our beautiful country. She visited all 50 states and nearly all of the continents, including Antarctica. Israel, Turkey, Pakistan, Thailand and Germany were among her international destinations. In 2018, she and her husband moved to Stacy, Minnesota because Harold’s declining health made it important for them to live with family who could provide support as needed. Harold passed into eternity on March 27, 2022.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Faith Baptist Church in Stacy with a visitation held one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Private family burial will take place at Victor Hill Cemetery in Linwood Township.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Grandstrand Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Branch. Condolences maybe expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
