It is with deep sadness that we have lost our dear friend, James Allen Swenson (2/12/1949 to 7/15/2026).  Known to all who loved him as " Jimmy," He was raised and currently lived in Lindstrom, MN.  Jimmy was born in Osceola, Wisconsin which gave him the right to cheer for the Packers when they weren't Playing the Vikings.

Jimmy was a Chi-Hi Bulldog graduating in 1967.  He loved high school and his classmates and was honored to be senior class president and football captain.

He loved America and he was proud to serve in Mobile Construction Battalion 133 in the U.S. Navy.  He was deployed to Chu Lie, Vietnam but he was dropped off and stationed in Guam where he served as a Sea Bee.  Jimmy became a storekeeper and provided supplies and equipment for the troops and the base.  

Jim was the Adjutant Commander of the Lindstrom' American Legion Post # 83 for many years.  He honored our veterans by helping to plan and organize the Memorial Service in Lindstrom.  He helped to place flags and read the "Role of the Dead' in Lindstrom and in recent years in Center City.  It was his mission to never forget those who served our Country.

Jimmy was proud to be a Swenson and a true Swede. (Over 90% Swedish confirmed by DNA testing).  He went on a dream trip to Sweden in 2017 with his partner, Cheryl.

Jim was the last surviving member of his generation of Elmer and Olivia (Olive) Swenson's family.  He was one of seven children including: Robert, Richard (Sherrill), Donald, Joyce Sederstrom (Merle), John, and Peggy Berquist (Chuck)

He is survived by his son, Scott Swenson and his nephew Mathew Swenson (Tricia), whom he considered his second son.  He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his longtime partner in life and love, Cheryl Nicklason.  He will be missed by Cheryl's children and grandchildren whom he gratefully shared.  He was known to them as Grandpa Jimmy. They are Jenny and Dan Johnson's children: Charles, Jackie, Josie & Jillian,  and Christopher and Tracy Rudin's children: Mason, Kahler & Hollis

Jim was a successful business owner with his business partner, Greg Anderson.   Jim considered him to be his other brother.

Jim was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom and still considered it home.

His service will be held 11:00. Friday, July 24, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, MN.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church.   Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, MN.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com

Jimmy believed he would be reunited with his parents and siblings in Heaven where they would sit at the table and celebrate together.  He hoped he'd meet his dear little dog, Duncan whom he lost last July 13th.  Cheers Jimmy, Cheryl
