Michael "Mike" Ehlert, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on June 23, 2026, following a courageous, long battle with mobility issues.

Mike was born and raised in Kent, Minnesota. He attended school in nearby Wahpeton, North Dakota, before relocating to St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1966 to pursue a career in the emerging computer building industry. During this time, he also proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.

He married Carol Klein in 1971, and in 1977, they moved to North Branch to start their farm.

A mechanic and collector, Mike found joy in working on vehicles and filling his sheds with his prized possessions, including a classic car and a collection of a dozen vintage Minneapolis-Moline tractors.

Following his retirement, Mike enjoyed working at Autotec, where he spent hours chatting with customers and swapping stories with friends. He also cherished family trips back up to the farm in Breckenridge.

Mike is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol; his three sons Jon (Angela), Mark (Krysten), and Brian (Nicole); his granddaughters, Allyn and Brooklyn and his step-grandkids, Alex and Brittany. He also leaves behind his brothers Myron (Sue), Wayne and Kevin (Chris); his sister Eloise (Roger); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Ann Ehlert; his sister Marilyn and his brother-in-law Doug.

A casual Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the family home in North Branch from 12pm to 3pm. Family and friends are invited to stop by to share memories and remember Mike.
