A 73 year old Wyoming resident entered a guilty plea last week to attempted first degree murder of his wife— and sentencing has been set for September 21.  

The May 11 incident was widely reported— due to the involvement of an Amazon delivery driver who heard commotion at the home on Heims Lake Circle,  having arrived with a package,  about the time the woman was being assaulted with a hammer.  He observed she had suffered head wounds and was bleeding.  The delivery man confronted the assailant and called 9-1-1.

The defendant, James Alan Johnson, was described in court documents as cooperative when local law enforcement arrived and Johnson also complied when the truck driver ordered him to hand over the weapon. Johnson was immediately apprehended in the basement of the home.  

County Attorney Janet Reiter said Johnson had planned to kill himself after he killed his wife, which he would do after she lost consciousness from the head wounds.  Investigation resources concluded he did not wish to see the victim deal with upcoming financial troubles for his business.  

Johnson was charged with first degree premeditated murder. A second charge of assault with a dangerous weapon was dismissed upon the plea being accepted.

Another City of Wyoming case was recently resolved with the recent conviction of a burglar in an occupied dwelling.

Santana Mark Robinson, age 21, was to start his jail sentence July 6 for the felony offense April 15.  

He was ordered to serve 270 days with credit for 68 served. He must stay away from Oakwood Townhomes and have no contact with the victim. He must not enter bars or liquor stores and is on supervised probation for five years. Restitution is yet to be determined.
