Luella Mae Faanes, lovingly known as Lu, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at the Sandstone Living Center in Sandstone, Minnesota. She was born on November 18, 1936, in Scandia, Minnesota, to Wilbur and Hulda True.
Lu grew up in Scandia alongside her sisters, Harriet and Margaret, and her brother, Ron. Lu devoted herself to her family as a homemaker before beginning her career with the Chisago Lakes School District, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially playing bingo, spending time with family, and traveling to visit Michelle and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald "Shorty" Faanes; her parents, Wilbur and Hilda True; her sisters, Harriet and Margaret; her brother, Ron; and her daughters, Pam Speed and Debra Faanes.
