In the two townships where there were choices on the ballot, both incumbents took the most votes Tuesday this week,  and were re-seated. Not all townships election results were available by print deadline.

The Press will carry write-ups next edition on township issues that were given attention in the annual meetings that follow close of polling. Annual meetings are convened for review of budgets and discussion of township needs and wants, for upcoming road projects to be explained and frequently the township county commissioner will make a report.

The voting turnout this week was relatively strong in comparison to numbers at the polls in years prior. 

Chisago Lake Township counted 65 ballots (28 were absentee) and incumbent Sherry Stirling easily was re-elected with 51.  Clerk Jeanette Peterson will continue as clerk with 56 ballots for her.  

 There were 14 votes for Daniel Colten Schmidt who put in his name against Stirling for supervisor.

Sunrise Township Clerk Wendy Kowalke was re-elected with 188 votes. She ran unopposed.

There was a race between a longtime Sunrise supervisor who stepped down from her previous seat, but filed to run in this year’s election for a different position.  Incumbent Carl Peter ‘Pete’Johnson won this race for three year Supervisor B with 116 votes,  to Jeske Noordergraaf’s 108 votes.

In the other Sunrise supervisor race, incumbent Greg Strom was re-elected with 119 votes to Connie Grobove’s 100.

Franconia Township voters returned Sonny Sparby to his supervisor seat with 31 votes.  He was not being challenged.

Amador Township Supervisor Gene Fisk was re-elected with 39 votes.

The clerk posts in these townships are appointed.
