MN PlantWatch: Volunteer programs featured at Birds & Beers March 18
Join the Wild River Audubon Society Wednesday, March 18 at 7 PM at the Uncommon Loon for Birds & Beers! Deanna Leigh will share the overall mission and goals of MN PlantWatch, a community science program that uses volunteers to conduct rare plant surveys and seed collection throughout Minnesota. She will also discuss highlights and interesting stories from the 2025 field season.
Leigh is a Community Science Program Coordinator with the DNR's Minnesota Biological Survey. She holds a BS in Environmental Studies from Trinity Western University and a MS in Environmental Science from Western Washington University. She pursued various natural resources and field research opportunities across North America before returning to her home state of Minnesota in 2017 for a position with DNR Parks and Trails. She joined MN PlantWatch in April 2023 and is thrilled to be working with rare species. Deanna grew up in the Chisago Lakes area, graduating from Chisago Lakes High School in 2003.
She is excited to present her current work to her former community! This event is free and open to the public.
