County HHWF to offer more hours, recycling capabilities
With renovations and expansion of the county Household Hazardous Waste facility in the rearview mirror, the County Board had an opportunity to institute a change in open hours and expand the list of materials it accepts for recycling.
Environmental Services Department Director Kurt Schneider explained that an MPCA grant allowed the facility warehouse efficiencies to be enhanced, work space was better organized, and storage expanded in a project that was recently completed — and additional services are now possible. “Tabletop” appliances like blenders, air fryers and toasters, etc. will be kept out of the wastestream through a recycling program being established with local recyclers. Scrap metal items a couple inches square or smaller will be disposed of.
The HHW Facility is in the North Branch Industrial Park, take Ash Street east of County Rd. 30 and at through street turn left.
The county is adding Wednesdays 9am-4pm to its public hours of Mondays and the last Saturday of each month. Watch for details about an opening for the facility scheduled for Earth Day 2026, later this April.
