"Competition is fierce and the opportunity to network with teams from around the world is life changing." That’s the sentiment of Team 7288 RoboGlaciers reflecting on their participation in the FIRST TECH Challenge (FTC) World Championships in Houston, Texas this past week.
After an impressive practice round on Wednesday scoring their season high 300 points, the team had high hopes for Thursday and Friday. Physical play created some performance issues for the robot as they finished Thursday 1-4.
After much investigation, the faulty wire was found and repaired. With alliances scoring 300-400 or more points consistently, teams needed to be at the top of their game and execute flawlessly to move up in the standings. Despite much improved play on Friday, RoboGlaciers finished the day 1-4.
It was a learning experience and the team looks forward to qualifying next year so they can use what they learned to improve.
The robotics team would like to thank those who contributed to make their adventure to Houston possible. The team will be having a Meet and Greet from noon to 2 p.m. at Tailgaters, in North Branch, on Sunday, May 17. Anyone who wants to see the robot, talk to the team or drive a robot is invited to attend.
