Bulldogs hammer East Bethel Bandits 12-1

Chisago Lakes 12, East Bethel 1

Beau Fandel homered, drove in five runs and pitched six innings of three-hit baseball to lead the Bulldog baseball team to a 12-1 win over the East Bethel Bandits on Tuesday, May 12 at Chisago Lakes High School. Brayden Anderson, playing his first game as a Bulldog, went four-for-four, with four runs scored and an RBI. Fandel allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out ten. Jacob Mickelson pitched a scoreless seventh inning, striking out two.

Anderson lined a single to center to lead off the top of the first.  Tyler Stilp popped a single into right, and the speedy Anderson reached all the way to third. Fandel grounded to short, forcing Stilp at second as Anderson crossed the plate with the first run of the game. Alex Wilkey lined a singled to right, with Fandel advancing to third. Nick Brown popped a Texas League single to center to score Fandel. After Carson Luxem grounded out to move the baserunners to second and third. Jeremy Knutson hit a hard ground ball to third. The third baseman fired the ball pat the first baseman and two runs scored to make it 4-0.

Anderson lined a double into the left field corner with one out in the bottom of the second and scored on Fandel’s line single to right center to make it 5-0. In the fourth, Nick Pettman reached on an error to lead off the inning and ended up on second base. Anderson singled to left to drive in Pettman. Tyler Stilp popped a single to center to move Anderson to second. Fandel hit grounder to third, but it got through the third baseman. Anderson scored to make it 7-0. Stilp and Fandel each moved up a base on a wild pitch. One out later, Nick Brown’s infield hit to short scored Stilp to make the score 8-0.

Anderson bounced a single to center to lead off the bottom of the sixth. One out later, Fandel hit a fly ball to left into the stratosphere. The ball carried well over the fence to make the score 10-1. Wilkey was hit by a pitch, and Nick Brown popped a single to center. Carson Luxem lined a single to center to drive in Wilkey, as Brown scooted around to third. Knutson hit a slow roller to short. He was thrown out at first, but Brown scored to make the score 12-1. Mickelson came in a shut the Bandits down 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh to send the Wildcat fans home happy.


Bulldog Banter

The Bulldogs (2-1) will host the Andover Aces tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Chisago Lakes High School. On Sunday, they will head to Dunning Field in St. Paul for a clash with the Highland Park Beavers at 3:00 p.m. On Tuesday, May 19, the Bulldogs will head to Wintercrest Park in Coon Rapids to play the Coon Rapids Redbirds at 7:30 p.m. And on Wednesday, May 20, the Wildcats will open the regular season with a home game against the Ham Lake Hornets at 7:30 p.m. at Chisago Lakes High School.
