The Chisago Lakes High School girls lacrosse team continued its remarkable season with another dominant stretch of games, improving to a perfect 9-0 on the year after piling up four more victories, including a signature win over one of the top teams they could potentially see again in sections.

The Wildcats’ biggest victory of the stretch came in an 8-7 thriller over Champlin Park High School, a team that entered the matchup with a 9-3 record and a team CL has battled with in sections for the last half decade, only finally beating them for the first time last year.

Chisago Lakes 8, Champlin Park 7

Chisago Lakes jumped out to a fast start, shutting out Champlin Park in the opening quarter while building a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats extended the advantage to 3-1 at halftime before the Rebels stormed back with three third-quarter goals to make things tight heading into the final period.

But each time Champlin Park threatened, the Wildcats responded.

Camryn Hinsch powered the offense with four goals and an assist while putting eight shots on goal. Madelyn Barten added three goals and one assist, and Linnea Carlson chipped in another score.

Naomi Eaton continued to serve as one of the Wildcats’ top playmakers, recording two assists while helping control possession and tempo throughout the contest.

Chisago Lakes outshot the Rebels 17-13, and goalkeeper Michaela Altendorf came through with six saves.

More importantly, the Wildcats showed they could win a close game against one of the top programs on their schedule.

For a team that has often overwhelmed opponents offensively this season, the Champlin Park game offered another sign of growth, proving the Wildcats can also execute in tight, physical games.

Chisago Lakes 18, Princeton/Big Lake 2

Chisago Lakes continued its scoring surge in an 18-2 rout of the Big Lake High School/Princeton/Spectrum cooperative.

The Wildcats buried six goals in the first quarter and followed with seven more in the second to take complete control early.

The offense was balanced from top to bottom.  Barten and Hinsch each scored three goals and added assists, while Eaton totaled five points on one goal and four assists.

Carlson added two goals and two assists, Grace Nelson scored twice and added an assist, and Alexandra Smothers contributed two goals of her own.

Amanda Duffy, Tenley Hinsch, Aubree Derocker, Evalynn Partridge and Raeann Goehring also scored for the Wildcats.

Chisago Lakes 17, Simley 2

The Wildcats followed that statement win with another offensive explosion, rolling past Simley High School 17-2.

CL dominated from the opening draw, racing to a 5-0 first-quarter lead before pouring in seven more goals in the second quarter to take a commanding 12-1 halftime advantage.

Carlson had one of her best games of the season, finishing with five goals and an assist. Hinsch added four goals, while Eaton totaled five points on two goals and three assists.

Smothers contributed two goals and two assists, Kate Friedner scored twice and Goehring handed out four assists in another strong playmaking performance.

Barten and Madelyn Rambosek also scored for the Wildcats, who finished with 32 shots and completely controlled possession throughout the game.

Altendorf stopped five shots in the blowout win.

Chisago Lakes 13, Blaine 3

The Wildcats followed that performance with another convincing victory, this time a 13-3 win over Blaine, who has been another section foe in the past for the ‘Cats.

Chisago Lakes wasted no time taking control, exploding for eight first-quarter goals and carrying a 10-0 lead into halftime.

Carlson led the Wildcats with four goals, while Hinsch added a hat trick.

Eaton scored twice, Rambosek added two goals and  Barten contributed a goal and an assist.  Goehring added four assists, while Katelyn Anderson contributed two assists.

During the four-game run, Chisago Lakes outscored opponents 56-14 while continuing to showcase one of the most dangerous offense in the state.

The ‘Cats have a tough game coming up with Hill-Murray on Thursday, May 14, as the Pioneers are 8-1 on the year, but they are the last true test that might stand between CL and another perfect regular season.
