July 31, 1931 to May 7, 2026.
Dale entered his heavenly home at the age of 94 on May 7, 2026, after a wonderful life full of family, friends, travel, and service to others.
Dale grew up in rural Hennepin County and graduated from Mound High School in 1949. He attended the University of Minnesota for pre-medical studies and medical school. To pay for college, he worked construction on what became Highway 12. While working as a medical student at Deaconess Hospital, Dale met nurse Elsa Ringstad. They fell in love and were married on July 29, 1955.
Graduating from medical school in 1956, he entered the US Air Force because of the "doctor draft". He and Elsa lived on bases in Texas and Oklahoma, where their family grew and they enjoyed living in community.
After he served in the Air Force, Dale heard from a medical school classmate who was in need of help, so the family settled down in Lindstrom. Slowly over the years, the medical community grew.
Dale also became involved in local community efforts such as the school board, building senior housing with the help of HUD, and planning an area-wide sanitary sewer system.
In 1966, the family welcomed daughter Kay.
Dale's family had many travel adventures and eventually moved into a house on North Lindstrom Lake - their home for the next 20 years. Dale found great joy in his very busy practice. He dearly loved his patients, who were also his friends.
One of Dale and Elsa's big medical adventures was spending two months working in a mission hospital in western Kenya. Performing surgery with a flashlight when the generator went out was challenging!
Dale was a very active member of First United Methodist Church in Lindstrom, followed by Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton, singing in choir and serving on various church boards.
In his retirement, Dale was a volunteer carpenter with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity for 25 years. He also blessed many of his children, grandchildren, and friends with handmade furniture. He loved to work with oak, cherry, maple, and walnut.
Dale is survived by his wife Elsa, children Paul Lindquist (Kathy), Nancy Toedt (John), Peter Lindquist (Chris), and Kay Rajtar, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Holst and Barbara Bjork.
The family would like to thank St.Croix Hospice for their care at the end of his life.
Funeral services will be held at Salem Covenant Church on Wednesday, May 27. Visitation is at 10 a.m. the service at 11 a.m. with luncheon following. Dale will be buried at Hillside Cemetery in the veterans' area.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
