Junette (Junie) Caroline Dale, age 80, passed away suddenly on May 10, 2026, in Sandefjord, Norway, while on vacation and visiting family members. The youngest child of John O. and Junette M. Dale, she was born on January 12, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a loving mother, a thoughtful and gentle presence, and someone who found deep joy in the people and places she held close to her heart.
Although she was born in Minneapolis, Junie moved to rural Shafer Township as an infant, and that community remained an important part of her life. She graduated from Taylors Falls High School and carried with her the values of family, home, and community throughout the years.
Shortly after graduating from high school, she married and the family made their home in Chisago City, Minnesota. Junie was deeply involved in the Chisago City community, organizing parades, playing softball, coaching youth sports, serving as a Cub Scout leader, singing in a Sweet Adelines choir, and participating in many other activities that reflected her energy, generosity, and commitment to others.
She loved music, reading, and writing, and had a special love for traveling to Norway to visit relatives and spend time where her father was born. Those trips were especially meaningful to her, not only because of the beauty of the place, but because they kept her connected to her family’s roots and to the memories and stories that shaped her life. She treasured those connections and the sense of belonging they brought her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Junette Dale; her brothers, Cecil, Gerald (Jerry), and Laurel (Larry); and her sisters-in-law, Margaret, Ella (Dolly), Jill, and Sharon.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Robert Cedergren and wife Sandra of Hudson, Wisconsin; Rebecca Wade of St. Paul, Minnesota; Rachel Bailey and husband Phil of Lindstrom, Minnesota; Renee Sonday and husband Dan of West St. Paul, Minnesota; Robin Pagel and husband Michael of Red Wing, Minnesota; Rochelle Parrish and husband Geno of Bloomington, Minnesota; and Richard Cedergren and wife Sarah of North Branch, Minnesota. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren Nicholas (Lauren), Kasandra (Kyle), Kailee (Kraig), Mia (Sam), Alexa, Evoni, Jas, Zachary, Kaitlyn (Caleb), Sydney (AJ), Ethan, Ieuan, Harrison, Grace (Sam), Calvin (Ana), Maxwell, Weiland, Ruby, Edwin, and Synneva, and 16 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.
She leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply and remember her with love, gratitude, and the many memories they shared together. Her life was filled with quiet joys, strong family ties, and a lasting appreciation for music, words, and meaningful time spent with loved ones. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A celebration of Junie’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Forest Lake Christian Church with fellowship to follow at the American Legion in Forest Lake, MN. An additional celebration will be held in Dale, Norway, at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to Forest Lake Christian Church or the Sons of Norway Vennelag 546 Lodge in Lindstrom, Minnesota.
