Halloween is over... and the ads!

Halloween has come and gone.  For the sixth year our street had zero trick-or-treaters.  I am not sure if they just focus on the dense neighborhoods or if the community events such as Trunk or Treat or the downtown trick-or-treat or Chisago City’s Falloween satisfied their candy needs.  Once again we are stuck (tongue in cheek) with a bunch of candy that will go in the trash - which is code for my fat stomach.

Keep in mind I am writing this late Tuesday... but thank goodness the political television ads are done.  This was the most disgusting season of political ads that I can ever remember.  It honestly just beat me down.  I have to buy a replacement remote control for our tv because the mute button has fallen off from pressing it so many times.

Saturday, if you are free, the Lions Club is hosting a pretty cool event.  They will be building beds for local youth, who are sleeping without a bed.  The event is taking place at Chisago Lakes High School in the industrial arts end at door #28 (by the performing arts center) from 9am to 1pm. 

You can help build the pre-cut beds that will go directly to a youth in Chisago County.  They would love a hand if you would like to volunteer!

Saturday is also the kick off of the holiday shopping season.  What better way to start than the super popular Chisago Lakes PTO Craft Fair.  Held at the Wildcat Center, the craft fair will feature over 150 vendor booths along with multiple food trucks.  The fair runs from 9am to 3pm. Judging by the cars outside it last year, I would get there somewhat early.

Next Tuesday is Veterans Day.  A day to honor the men and women who serve  and have served our great country.  There is a wonderful free meal offered to all Veterans at Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City,  Monday November 9. from 4-6 Please come to enjoy a wonderful pork and chicken dinner with all the fixings. No speeches, no agendas, just great food with great people.  I hope to see you there.
