Our beloved mother and grandmother, Margueritte Louise (Bany) Malcomson, age 96 passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026 at the Valentine High Assisted Living facility in Lake City, Minnesota. She was a long time resident of Lindstrom and Center City, Minnesota.
In a tender and meaningful moment prior to her passing, Margueritte was with her hospice music therapist, who played the song “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, a favorite song she shared with her beloved husband Clark. She peacefully passed away while listening to the music.
Margueritte was born on September 25,1930 to William H. and Clara Adella (Mundfrom) Bany in Fremont Township, Iowa. She attended Fredrick High School and graduated in 1948. After graduation Margueritte attended technical school in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated as a Laboratory Technician. She began her career as a Laboratory Technician at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA. and worked in this same capacity for many years at Chisago Lakes Hospital until her retirement in 1992.
While living in Waterloo, she met Clark through mutual friends on December 22, 1951. Clark was on leave from the Air Force at that time. Three weeks later, on January 11,1952 they were married. They remained married for 73 happy years until his death in 2025.
Margueritte lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. She was a loving and generous woman whose family was always at the center of her life. She made it a priority to be present in her children and grandchildren’s lives, taking a genuine interest in their experiences and treasuring the time they spent together. Her devotion to her family and the love she shared with them were among her most cherished qualities.
A devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, Marguerite was actively involved in the Altar Guild and Circle, and generously contributed her time to the needs of her church. She also volunteered with the Fairview Lakes Hospital Auxiliary and helped with fund raising events including Garden Tours and Auxiliary Luncheons. Margueritte was a member of the Audubon Society, making several loon and bird counting trip along with Clark. For more than 40 years, Margueritte and Clark delivered Meals on Wheels, reflecting her commitment to her community, those in need and her appreciation for the natural world.
Margueritte enjoyed an active and fulfilling life. She loved playing cards, participated in competitive bridge, and gathered with others to play the 500 card game. After retirement, she and her husband traveled throughout the United States and abroad, enjoying new experiences and spending winters in Texas, Alabama, and Utah.
Margueritte had a special love for gardening, a passion she shared with her daughter, Karen. She also delighted in watching birds, a love she passed on to her son, Russell. Her appreciation for nature and the simple pleasures of life brought her joy and created special connections with her children.
Margueritte is survived by her beloved brother, Paul of Elk River, MN; her son, Russell (Nancy) of Lake City, MN; and her daughter, Karen (Craig) of Park City, UT. She was a proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Holly Oakland (Jeff) of Elmhurst, IL; Crystal Boe (Russell) of Lake City, MN; Sterling Malcomson (Carmen) of Shoreline, WA; Ryan Malcomson of Mexico City, Mexico; and Riley Broussard of Bountiful, UT.
