Beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother Phyllis (Groehler) Weise, 99, of Minnesota passed away on October 14, 2026.
Phyllis was born in Turtle Lake, WI on December 9, 1926 to Herman and Agnes (Johnson) Groehler. She was the third of nine children, growing up on a farm and working hard beside her mother, father and siblings.
Phyllis graduated from Turtle Lake High School and moved to the “big” city of South St. Paul, working for Northwestern Bell. She married the love of her life, Walter Weise, in 1946 and they were married for 65 wonderful years until Walt’s passing in 2011. Together they traveled the world and danced their way through love and life.
Phyllis was a strong, passionate, and kind woman whose life was rooted in her faith in God. That faith shaped everything about her: how she loved, how she gave, and how she saw the people around her.
She loved to have people come to visit her and her home was always so beautifully kept and welcoming. Her grandchildren will always remember the candy dish full of candy and the chest full of toys waiting for them. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, and she was up for any project she and Walt came up with. Whether it was projects around the house or projects helping friends and family, they always enjoyed working together. What a partnership they had. Nothing captured it better than watching the two of them on the dance floor, waltzing and spinning so effortlessly together.
After Walt’s passing, Phyllis lived many years alone, and in her 90’s, she met Everett Weaver in Mission, TX and shared many years of happiness together.
Phyllis met everyone with a kind heart and always wanted what was best for her friends and family. She saw the best in people and always saw the bright side to life. She was compassionate and forgiving, and she loved her family fiercely.
She was never afraid of a challenge or of speaking up. Yet she carried that strength with a grace, poise, and elegance that everyone admired; lighting up every room she walked in to. Phyllis gave freely and loved fervently, and her generosity was matched only by her faith, which guided her decisions throughout her lifetime.
Phyllis loved to laugh. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a true love for life, and she shared that joy with everyone lucky enough to know her.
We will miss her dearly, but her love, her faith, and her laughter will live on in all of us.
Phyllis is survived by her brothers Dean Groehler and Doug (Jan) Groehler, her five children, Jeanette (Edwin) Heck, Walter Jr (Jackie) Weise, Yvonne (Sheldon) Hawley, DeWayne (Kaye) Weise and David Weise, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, extended family and a host of friends.
Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch MN on November 14, 2026. Visitation at 10am, Service at 11am with a luncheon to follow.
