Citation issued in wheelchair semi-encounter

The state patrol reports a semi truck driver was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, in connection with the incident October 7 in the city of Wyoming. The state patrol information officer added the investigation is ongoing.  

Robert Parks, 65, of Wyoming was operating his Volvo truck northbound on I35 and exited to Viking Blvd, about 6:30 p.m.  A wheelchair was eastbound on Viking when the semi collided with it. The ambulance transported 65 year old Kevin Stroh, Wyoming, who reportedly had non-life threatening injuries.

State Patrol reminds readers that safety is everyone’s responsibility and to never assume that a driver sees you as a pedestrian.

There was a small fire called in at the Schoolhouse Apartment building in Shafer, at 7:46 a.m. October 11.  No foul play is suspected, incident was cleared quickly with no injury.

October 8 a farm implement caught fire while on property on Wild Mountain Road, about 1:36 p.m. Deputy assisted with a fire extinguisher in putting it out and Almelund Fire Dept. was sent  to monitor.

October 7 a burglary in progress is alleged as a patrol deputy came through at 5:30 a.m. and arrested a female at a storage unit in Gopher State Storage who was not authorized to be there. Her pickup truck was also seized.

Lakes Area Police were notified there will be a rally on Highway 8 at the statues plaza from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday Oct 17.
