Valerie Sutherland

Valerie “Val” C. Sutherland, age 75, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2026.

Val was born in Denton, Texas, to Joe and Mary Haas. She loved vacationing in Florida with her husband, Barry, and snowshoeing along the North Shore with her friends. She also enjoyed the quiet pleasures of a good book, a jigsaw puzzle, or a movie at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Barry and sister Gayle Bassett.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter Cindy; grandson Alex and her friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota 55025. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning one hour prior to the service.
