North Branch Girls

The Jordan Jaguars shut out the Viking girls’ soccer team 5-0 in the Vikings’ home opener Tuesday, September 1 at North Branch High School. The Vikings headed up to Cheever Field in Hibbing on Wednesday, September 2 and scored their first goal of the season, but lost 5-1 to the Hibbing/Chisholm Bluejackets. The Vikings returned home to host the Zimmerman Thunder on Tuesday, September 8 and lost 4-1. The Vikings have struggled at the start of the season, being outscored 20-2 so far.


North Branch Boys

The Zimmerman Thunder shut out the Vikings 1-0 on Tuesday, September 8 at North Branch High School.


Chisago Lakes Girls

Freshman Mackenzie Leonhardt scored two goals to lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 win over the Park Center Pirates on Thursday, September 3 at Chisago Lakes High School. Emma Knabe scored the other goal for the Wildcats, assisted by Leonhardt. The game was tied 0-0 at halftime before the Wildcats took over in the second half with three unanswered goals. Maddi Gavett and Payton Pohlman each assisted on one of Leonhardt’s goals.

Junior Sienna Benson scored once in each half as the Wildcats tied the Big Lake Hornets 2-2 on Tuesday, September 8 at Chisago Lakes High School. Senior Emma Knabe assisted on both goals.


Chisago Lakes Boys

Junior Blake Trupe, freshman Jonathan Grudt, and junior Samuel Huston each scored a goal to help the Wildcats pick up a 3-1 win over the Hibbing/Chisholm Bluejackets on Monday, August 31 at Chisago Lakes High School. Samuel Gareiss and Bode Marten each had an assist in the Wildcats’ first win of the season.

The Cloquet/Esko Lumberjacks scored three times in the first half and four more times in the second half to shut out the Wildcats 7-0 on Tuesday, September 1 at Chisago Lakes High School. Samuel Gareiss, Fernando Saldivar Balbuena, and Samuel Huston each scored a goal to lead the Wildcats to a 3-2 win over the Big Lake Hornets on Tuesday, September 8 at Chisago Lakes High School.


Soccer Stuff

The Wildcats boys (2-3) will travel to Princeton this evening to take on the Tigers at 7 p.m. On Saturday, they will get on the bus early, heading to the Mesabi East Athletic Complex in Aurora to take on the Mesabi East Giants at 11 a.m. And on Monday, September 14 they will return home to host the PACT Charter School Panthers at 6 p.m. at Chisago Lakes High School.

The Wildcat girls (1-2-1) will play the Princeton Tigers at Princeton High School this afternoon at 5 p.m. They will take on a local rival, the Forest Lake Rangers, at 7 p.m. at Forest Lake High School. And they will trek north to face the Hibbing/Chisholm Bluejackets at Cheever Field in Hibbing at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m.

The Viking boys (1-2) will host the Monticello Magic at North Branch High School tonight at 7 p.m. They will play the Legacy Christian Lions at home this Saturday in a 1 p.m. matinee. And on Monday, September 14 they will head to St. Francis High School to face the Fighting Saints at 5 p.m.

The Viking girls (0-4) will host the Monticello Magic at home this afternoon at 5 p.m. at North Branch High School. On Monday, September 14 they will travel to St. Francis to play the Fighting Saints at 7 p.m. And on Tuesday, September 15, the Vikings will welcome the Mankato Loyola/LCWM/St. Clair Crusaders to North Branch for a first-ever girls’ soccer matchup between the two programs, with the game starting at 7 p.m.
