Everyone gets on commencement stage

Congrats to North Branch Class of 2020. Seniors enjoyed a cyber-celebration Sunday June 7, with an on-line pre-recorded commencement video.  The district decided it was best to avoid any gatherings that might make people uncomfortable so commencement was enjoyed at-home as a video streaming event.  Graduates came to the high …

Back where she started, and couldn't be happier

With a name like Zupko, you have to get used to being the last name called for attendance, and even being at the end of the list of graduating seniors accepting diplomas.

Respect the channel, we as a community can help immediately

Good news boaters, kayakers and canoeists!  The channel in between North Center and North Lindstrom Lake is being cleared of bogs.  That means very soon you will be abe to maneuver through the channel much more easily.  Here is the caveat - we (me included) must absolutely respect the channel, …

Destruction hit close (too) to home; seniors make the best of hand dealt

So this weekend, what to say? I spent hours upon hours watching the absolute horrific death of George Floyd and the utter destruction of South Minneapolis.  I have a brother who lives just blocks from the 3rd Precinct Police Station which burned to the ground so my weekend was consumed …

Easy to make with four ingredients

It’s starting to feel like summer the past couple of days, hasn’t it? The earth has finally warmed and the angle-worms are having a hay-day wiggling about in the damp soil. I know because I added on to my little garden and when loosening up the soil, there they were wiggling …

Memorial Day was incredible; get your keys - time to send off seniors

Wow what an amazing turnout the area had for Memorial Day.  Nobody was sure what it would look like with the stay-at-home stuff, but people came out in droves. What was even more impressive was how people did consciously make an effort to social distance even with larger crowds. What …
