AED donation from SLFD

Stacy-Lent firefighters allocated funds from their charitable gaming proceeds and will install a life saving AED unit at a North Branch location. Department spokesperson Eric Coen and Sunrise River Elementary School Principal Taylor Swanson presented the concept of the save station to the school board last week. Coen said he has been a responder to numerous cardiac events and the main factor for keeping a victim alive is time. The goal of the AED station sponsor organization— a non profit called Teddy’s Heart— is to have AED stations available anywhere the public gathers. Stations now in the metro area are at playgrounds and athletic fields mostly. North Branch officials have not decided where the station will be installed just yet. If you’d like to make a donation to the AED stations effort see teddys-heart.org. Coen said the units range from $6,500 to $7,500 depending on the level of customization for the installation.
