It has consistently touted itself as one of the premiere golf camps around and this year was no different. Last week, 105 kids attended the 4th annual Junior Golf Camp at the Chisago Lakes Golf Course. Sponsored by RiverBank, the camp has brought in over 100 kids in each of its four years.

“The fact that we’re doing a little bit of everything makes this camp unique,” said Todd Kueppers, PGA Professional at the Chisago Lakes Golf Course. “For example, one of our areas that we spent a lot of time with was rules and etiquette. Kids don’t know that, and getting that out there right away is important for the kids and for their parents as well. Some parents don’t even know the rules and what the terms mean.”

Kids ages 8-14 rotated through four different stations for three days before finishing the camp with a scramble tournament. This year’s camp was also highlighted by the appearance of “Hondo the Magician”, a world-famous entertainer.

“That was a huge deal for us,” commented Kueppers. “I got to talking with some of my golf friends and they recommended Hondo. He’s performed for Nicklous, Palmer, Muhammad Ali, so he’s a the real deal.”
