It was a long time coming, so much so that the pool had a postseason feel. Last Thursday, fans packed the Chisago Lakes swimming pool to watch the Wildcats swim at home for the first time this season. The team did not disappoint.

“We swam really well,” said Chisago Lakes swimming head coach Ed Wakefield. “I think the girls were excited because it was a home meet. Big Lake was a real strong team, but we still took first, second, and third in all but one of the individual events.”

I’d say that’s swimming well. Individually, Laura Chelberg and Erin Cunningham each posted two first place finishes while Lindsey Koch, Lauren Koch, Allie Jones and Molly McGurk won their events, paving the way for a 103-55 win.

In addition, Chisago Lakes swept the relays by winning the 200 medley, 200 individual medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle. The ‘Cats divers then made it a perfect night by taking the top three spots, highlighted by a first place finish by Erica Greene.
