Living up to the hype-Wildcats light up course, Big Lake
Last Thursday, in their first meet of the season, the Chisago Lakes boys golf team showed just how deep they really are, setting an all-time school score at the Pine City Scramble. Two three-person teams each shot 63, combining for a school score of 126. The previous school score record was 128.
“The school score record was previously 128, we shot 126,” smiled Bill Bigler, Chisago Lakes head boys golf coach. “Obviously, that is tremendously pleasing. That shows how deep we really are.”
Mike Tschida, Josh Angrimson, and D.J Haus were paired together, making up one team for the ‘Cats. Jordan Hawkinson, Luke Angrimson, and Trent Froberg make up team two.
As a team, North Branch “A” team carded the best round of the day, shooting a 62.

If Bill Bigler looked closely enough, he could probably find another record that fell, this time last Monday against Big Lake. Playing in their first meet of the season, the Wildcats didn’t mess around, posting a 147 to the Hornets 191, winning by 44 strokes!!
Individually, playing as the number three golfer on varsity, Josh Angrimson lit up the course, shooting a one under par 35, good enough for medalist honors. Mike Tschida followed with a 36 while Jordan Hawkinson, Luke Angrimson, and Trent Froberg each shot 38.
“Josh has been solid,” commented Bigler. “His last five nine-hole qualifying rounds, he’s one under par. He’s doing really well. He’s played his way up to the number one spot for our next meet.”
But, what makes the ‘Cats so dangerous is their depth. Five of the six on varsity finished with a 38 or better, and on the junior varsity side, Andrew Turner came in with a 37.
“I thought we played very well. The guys said they wished they would’ve made some more birdies so I was happy to hear that, to hear that they want to get better,” remarked Bigler. “Overall, Josh was great, Mike (Tschida) finished with nine pars so he was as consistent as you can get. I was totally pleased with our effort.”
Now the question is, can they get even better? With two conference meets upcoming this week, we will soon find out.
