At this rate, the Chisago Lakes golf teams’ greatest competition this entire season will be themselves. Two more wins this week, both by 20 or more strokes.
Last Tuesday against Pine City, the Wildcats picked up a 40 stroke win, defeating the Dragons 148-188. Even the weather couldn’t slow them down. For the second consecutive meet, Josh Angrimson carded the low score, taking medalist honors with a 36. Jordan Hawkinson and Mike Tschida followed with 37’s.
“I am very pleased. The guys are just playing so solid right now, they just drubbed them,” said Bill Bigler, Chisago Lakes head boys gold coach.
And the drubbing could have been worse. Luke Angrimson, Josh’s younger brother, also finished the round with a 36 but an incorrect scorecard disqualified the freshman. It’s one of the few things that hasn’t gone right for the Wildcats this season.
“I figured we would be somewhere around that range, 144 to 148. That’s what they have been shooting all along,” commented Bigler. “It just shows how strong this program is right now. Even on a cold and rainy day, it doesn’t seem to affect them.”

Two days later, in totally different weather conditions, the Wildcats once again were a model of consistency, once again shooting a 148. The performance gave them a 23 stroke win over Milaca.
Speaking of consistency, four Wildcats tied for the low score, all shooting 37’s. Josh Angrimson, Trent Froberg, Jordan Hawkinson, and Mike Tschida shared medalist honors.
“That is kind of neat, it’s such consistency,” replied Bigler. “It’s great to see that, I’m really pleased with our consistency.”
Nick Allardyce and Luke Angrimson followed, carding a 40 and 41 respectively. In addition, the Wildcats Junior Varsity squad shot a combined score of 170, defeating the Milaca varsity team. The ‘Cats JV team has beaten the other teams varsity squad in every meet this season.
“We just have to keep it going,” said Bigler. “Now our next thing is that I would like to see someone step up and shoot under par.”
They will get their shot. Up next, Chisago Lakes will see Mora twice this week before heading to the Purple Hawk Invitational next Monday.
