Tee Up for Hospice is sweet 16. The annual Tee Up for Hospice golf benefit event this year marks its 16th anniversary with the traditional nine-hole shotgun scramble at the Chisago Lakes Golf Course, in Lindstrom, at 4 p.m., Monday, August 23. Registration is now open and a limited number of spaces remain for this highly popular outing.

Tee Up for Hospice has been raising money to support hospice services for terminally ill patients and their families since Aug. 28, 1989. Today Tee Up for Hospice is hosted by Fairview Lakes HomeCaring Hospice with proceeds going to support the volunteer and bereavement components of hospice care.

Event Coordinator Darcy Nelson of HomeCaring Hospice extends special thanks to this year’s major sponsors: Zinpro of North Branch, The RiverBank MN-Chisago Lakes, First State Bank of Rush City, University of Minnesota Physicians Radiation Therapy Center at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center, Wells Fargo Bank, Polaris, and Fairview Lakes Regional Health Care.

Numerous other local businesses also sponsor holes, and make donations to help support the event. Thrivent for Lutherans will provide $800 in matching funds.

Registration forms are available at local golf courses and at Fairview Chisago Lakes Clinic in Chisago City. Golfers may participate as individuals or in five-person men’s, women’s or mixed teams. (Mixed teams must include at least two women.)

The $55 donation includes nine holes of golf, a pig roast supper and a chance at many prizes including; hole-in-one prizes of a 2004 Ford Explorer, sponsored by Plastic Products of Lindstrom; and a Special 200 Cruise SE pontoon boat and 25 hp Mercury motor, sponsored by Frankie’s Bait and Marine, Chisago City. Two golfers are guaranteed to win a $250 savings bond donated by Lake Area Bank and $250 in gasoline from Wally Carlson & Sons BP.
