Can you believe that 2004 is almost over? This had to be the quickest year I can remember. It seems just like yesterday that we were enjoying the Celebration of the Lakes. It also feels like yesterday when we began the battle with Iraq. Maybe I’m getting old or maybe the world is moving so fast that if you blink, you will miss something that was really news worthy.

We here at the Press would like to thank all of our advertisers and subscribers for your loyal support. Without you there would be no newspaper. We hope the holiday season holds much joy for you and the upcoming year will be filled with all the happiness you wish for. Thank you and we will continue to try to make this the best newspaper around. And to our readers, we are aware that we don’t always measure up to everyone’s standards, but believe me when I say we are trying our best. We appreciate your interest in the Press and always welcome your comments––good or bad. Thank you and have a happy holiday season.

On the Christmas note, I hope you have the chance to spend some time with children this Christmas. We have two children under age six and I can’t begin to tell you how neat it is watching the excitement inside their little bodies. I swear my little boy cannot sit still for 15 seconds and even when he is reprimanded for something he still has a smile on his face. They cannot contain their excitement, which in turn means don’t even think about putting them down for a nap. Nope, not going to happen. Oh well, there will be plenty of time to nap after the holidays, let them enjoy every minute of it.

The Celebration of the Lakes planning is in full gear. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer in any capacity, it would be greatly appreciated. Call the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce at 651-257-1177, your call will be welcomed and appreciated.

Well, we finally have winners in our Gift Guide Coloring Contest.

Congratulations to Adaline Holslin and Larissa Milles, they won 1st and 2nd place in the 5 and under category. And in the 6 and older category, Jessica Baxter and Alexa Magnison won 1st and 2nd place. These children will be contacted by the Press. If we fail to make contact, please call us to claim your prize. Thank you to all who participated, the response was far greater than we expected.

If you are traveling for the holidays, please travel carefully. Have a wonderful and happy holiday.

Matt Silver
