Chisago Lakes 147
Foley 165
It all started on May 4 when the Wildcats faced off with Foley on the road. Undefeated in duel meets, Chisago kept their record perfect with an 18 stroke win. Senior Jordan Hawkinson walked into the clubhouse with an even par 35, topping the entire field. In addition, freshman Luke Angrimson carded a 36. Josh Angrimson, Trent Froberg, and Scott Liebsch followed with 38’s. Mike Tschida rounded out the field with a 39.
“There was a pin placement where the ball rolled backwards and that got a couple of guys, so our score is much higher that we would normally shoot on that course,” said Bill Bigler, Chisago Lakes boys head golf coach. “Mike Tschida was one player in particular who ran into trouble on that hole.”
One player who did not have trouble was Hawkinson who picked up his second win of the season in dual meets. Hawkinson tied for medallist honors against Mora the week before.
“He’s picked it up. That’s two in a row for him going back to Mora,” mentioned Bigler. “He was also low score at Purple Hawk. He’s just been better in every aspect of the game. He’s really playing well.”
They all are.

Elk River Invite
Hawkinson and the ‘Cats continued to play well at the Elk River Invite on May 6. However, based on how some of the teams in their section did, they’ll have to play better.
When it was all said and done, the Wildcats finished the 36-hole event tied for sixth as a team, posting a score of 623. Anoka won the meet with a score of 612, followed by Elk River. Anoka and Elk River are both section foes. Chisago did beat Grand Rapids, another section contender, by four strokes.
“It was a really strong field,” said Bigler. “I think we were a little tired. We boarded the bus at 5:15 in the morning, but overall, I think we did fine. I think we did real well compared to the section teams. We held our own, and not we know what we need to shoot to play with them.”
Individually, Jordan Hawkinson tied for eighth overall, posting a 153. Trent Froberg and Luke Angrimson followed, both shooting a 160.

Princeton 171
Monday, May 10, the Wildcats returned to conference play. Check that, they returned to conference domination, disposing of Princeton by 21 strokes.
Trent Froberg became the fourth different Wildcats to medal this season, topping everyone with a low score of 35. From there, Luke Angrimson walked into the clubhouse with a 37 while Jordan Hawkinson, Mike Tschida, and Josh Angrimson all posted 39’s.
“It was a little higher than we like to shoot but the course rating was higher too,” mentioned Bigler. “I think we did real well overall. Trent and Luke did well. A lot of the guys said they wanted to shoot better but they say that all the time.”
With the win, the Wildcats stayed perfect in Rum River play with one more conference showdown before the conference meet.
