The special election held in Chisago City Tuesday, April 19, seated two new city council members.

Incumbents Sue Skow and Karen Dincau were running for their seats again, challenged by Don Taylors and Larry Parker. Parker and Taylor won the two seats.

The voters elected Taylors with 610 votes and Parker got 587 votes. Skow and Dincau got nearly identical totals-- 182 and 181 respectively.

The ballot was ordered by Administrative Law Judge Sheehy in her order approving a contested case annexation petition filed by Chisago City. To address concerns about representation by elected officials she declared there be a special vote of city residents and newly-annexed residents.

Parker and Taylor live within the area ordered to be annexed into the city. Parker is a former chair of the township board. They are scheduled for swearing-in May 10, the first city council meeting of next month.
