The Chisago Lakes Wildcats VFW baseball team lost its only game last week, falling 1-0 to Andover Wednesday, June 22 at home.

Dan Kaiser pitched a complete game for the Wildcats, giving up three hits, walking one and striking out two. The only Andover run came in the fifth inning. A long fly ball dropped behind the Wildcat right fielder for a double. The next batter smacked their only hard hit ball of the game. Unfortunately, it was a single to right-center field that scored the runner from second.

The Wildcats got a runner to third base in each of the first two innings, but were unable to score. Their last threat came in the sixth inning, when they had a runner on second and one out. The batter hit a ground ball to the shortstop, but the runner on second took off and was tagged out in a rundown. The Wildcats went out 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh, leaving the final score Andover 1, Wildcats 0.

The Wildcat game against Centennial Monday, June 27 was rained (more like “hurricaned”) out. They played this week at Fridley and Friday at home against Cooper. The Wildcats will be looking to avenge a 16-1 loss at Cooper earlier this season.
