150 athletes from four different programs packed the Chisago Lakes gym on March 7 to take part in the seventh annual Wishbone Performance Meet. White Bear Lake won the meet with 50 points. Chisago Lakes, who had the most athletes participating in the event, took third overall.

The event is coordinated by Jeff Saueressig who started the competition seven years ago. The Lindstrom Fire Department has been an active sponsor in the event.

“The reason I started this was to give those kids a chance to compete,” mentioned Saueressig. “We have so many weightlifters who don’t have a sport in the winter. I wanted to give them something to compete in, and also, get those competitive juices flowing with the awards. That was the goal.”
