Seventeen area youngsters recently gathered at Wings North Hunting Club and Sporting Clays near Pine City to participate in the annual Chisago County Pheasants Forever (PF) Youth Hunt.

The event featured gun safety, a round of sporting clays target shooting and a bird hunt for pheasants and chukar partridge.

Shown front row (left to right) are: Matt Hyden, Duncan MacNeil, Joe Joyer, Ryan Egelkraut, Kyle Olson, Ramsey Faltisek and Lucas Jochim. Back row: John MacNeil, Brandon Yoder, Austin Stack, Noel Egelkraut, Jacob Brave, Mathew Griese, Calvin Stenberg and Jesse Tesch.

Not present for photo: Gus and KatyGarbe. Typically, three or four girls participate in the hunt. The Chisago County PF Chapter is part of a national organization dedicated to improving pheasant habitat and hunting.

Calvin Stenberg (left) and Jesse Tesch pose with one of the pheasants bagged and their guide Chris Wichman and his award-winning dog, a Gordon Setter named Taz. Each youth participant got the opportunity to shoot at one or more birds.
