Karl Oskar Days are in full swing around Lindstrom. As of yesterday, the first clues have been posted for the Karl Oskar Days Snuff Box Hunt. As I said last week, the prize for this year’s snuff box hunt has been doubled! Your prize for finding the ever elusive silver box is now $500, so get your friends together and get looking.

Thursday is dedicated to the females. From noon until 6 p.m., Kristina’s Afternoon out will be held in downtown Lindstrom. Grab your girlfriends and head downtown to enjoy great deals and fun times. Also on Thursday, the Karl Oskar Queen Coronation will take place in the Performing Arts Center in the Senior High School at 7 p.m.

On Friday, along with the Snuff Box Hunt, there is a wonderful event held at the Lindstrom Community Center called the Taste of Tingsryd Lunch. You can sample all kinds of food that are rich with Swedish heritage.

Also on Friday, the annual Queen’s Tug-O-War Challenge will take place across the street from the Community Center at 6 p.m. You can watch the Queen and all her royalty try to pull other teams into a giant mud pit. There will be food and beverages offered in Lions Park.

The Karl Oskar Kiddie Parade will also be held Friday night at 7 p.m. This year the lineup will take place on St. Croix Ave., in front of Fairview Cemetery and proceed down Akerson Street to the Band shell. And at the band shell on Friday, there will be RockStock 06’ which will feature local teen bands, RockStock starts at 7 p.m.

Saturday starts off with one of the most popular events, the Lindstrom Loppet. Last year they had an amazing turn out, so get there early to register. The race starts at 8 a.m. and registration starts at 7.

At 9 a.m., in St. Bridget’s parking lot there will be a classic car show that last year had some really spectacular cars on display.

All day Saturday you will have many opportunities to take in some of the wonderful Karl Oskar Days festivities. From the arts and craft show in Memorial Park, to a cribbage tournament at the Swedish Inn, it all leads up to the Karl Oskar Days Parade at 6 p.m. Judging by the last four year’s turnouts, you might want to claim your spot early.

As always there will be a dance with live music at Lions Park following the parade. Admission is $5 and the featured band will be Deuce.

Sunday starts out with a pancake breakfast at the Mason’s Lodge followed by the Arts and Crafts show in the park. While at Memorial Park, be sure to take in some of our local talented musicians and dancers throughout the day. Memorial Park will also host a Pie Contest where you will be able to taste and purchase some of the most delectable pies you have ever eaten.

The grand finale of the busy weekend will be the fireworks show held at Beach Park. The fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m. and are said to be the best ever, so bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy.

The Chisago County Press is still looking for someone to cover Taylors Falls City Council meetings. The meetings are usually held on Monday nights. You would be expected to attend and write about the meeting, and submit your story the following day. It is a wonderful opportunity for a person to really get in tune to what their city is up to. If interested, please call Matt or Denise at 651-257-5115.
