Augsburg College recently announced that junior Erik Helgerson has been named a Cleveland Golf Division III All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Helgerson, an accounting and finance major with a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average, was also named to the Academic All-MIAC team as a sophomore and junior. He also earned All-MIAC honors in the fall of 2005 with a ninth-place finish (74-78-152) at the conference meet. The junior golfer also earned All-Conference recognition at the 2003 MIAC Meet.

Junior and senior golfers who have at least 3.2 GPA and carry a 79.0 or lower stroke average while playing in at least 70 percent of a team’s competitive rounds. Helgerson finished the 2005-06 season 77.95 stroke average.

Helgerson, a 2003 graduate of CLHS, is the son of Richard and Cindy Helgerson of Chisago City.
