For the first time in over 100 years Lindstrom is without a lumber yard. This corner at County Road 20 and Hwy. 8 has housed a lumber yard since 1890. According to the Lindstrom Centennial publication "Lindstrom on the Lake," starting in the late 1800s until 1907 the Earlandson Lumber Company operated on that corner...then it became Charles Andrews' Lumber, until 1916, when Axel Carlson took over. Next was Inter State Lumber--which operated sites in Lindstrom and throughout east central Minnesota and west Wisconsin for decades. Inter State was sold to Stock (parent company Carolina Holdings) in the late 1990s.
The future of the corner lot is not known. Several phone messages left by a reporter at Stock's corporate offices in Raleigh, North Carolina were not returned.
