John Michael McCarthy
He was born in Benson, Minn., to parents, Robert and Francis McCarthy on April 2, 1939.
He graduated High School and married Marcella Kurth at Hendrick's June 4, 1964.
John had worked for Buckbee Mears for 20 years and SRC for 20 years as a welder and fabricator.
He is a proud member of the Almelund Threshing Company since 1997.
John enjoyed his faith, his family, SRC, tractors and polkas.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Megan Rose McCarthy; parents, Robert and Francis McCarthy; father-in-law, Wesley Kurth and brother, Joseph.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy; children: Mike and Tammi McCarthy and their children Jared and Julia; Dennis and Tami McCarthy and their children, Jason and John; Rick and Gina McCarthy and their children Emily, Justin, Madelyn and Nathaniel; and Cindy and Jeff Nickelson and their children, Kayla and Adam.
Funeral service 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City. Visitation 5-8 p.m., Friday at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Interment at Chisago Memorial Park in Chisago City.
John has been fighting cancer since 1989. Having survived four different cancers and all the treatments that were available. Family and friends know what a fighter he was leaving a legacy for all who knew him. He will be sorely missed by all.
