Wildcat gymnasts compete at Big Lake Invitational
The Wildcats earned 128.250 points, compared to Annandale's 130.100. Litchfield (125.675) and Maple Lake (118.450) also competed in the same division.
Wildcat Britni Harris finished second all-around with a score of 34.700. She won the balance beam (8.750), was second on the bars (8.550) and the vault (8.900) and fifth in the floor exercise (8.500). Teammate Alex Thomsen was eighth all-around with 31.575. Lindsay Carlson was 10th (31.025), Andrea Olson was 11th (30.950) and Cassie Schlegel 15th (25.550).
"The girls have been working hard and our scores should start to climb as we continue," said Wildcat head coach Brett Kjos. "We have nine meets in January, so we will be extremely busy and will need to make use of every minute in practice to make our routines better and better.
"Overall, Saturday was a pretty decent meet for us. We did a very nice job on the vault," Kjos said. Andrea Olson, (8.45) Lindsay Carlson (8.45), Carissa O'Kane (7.975) and Cassie Schlegel (7.85) all set personal records on the vault.
"We struggled on the bars the last two meets. I am looking forward to see how we improve on the bars over the next few weeks. The balance beam has been fairly steady all season. The girls have been doing a fantastic job this season staying on the beam. We did a nice job on the floor. Hopefully we can continue to work hard in the gym and our scores will continue to to climb," Kjos concluded.
The gymnasts host North Branch in a conference meet tonight, January 11 at 6:30 in the CLMS gym.
