Wildcat skiiers dominate Andover
The Wildcats followed that win by coming in second in the combined (boys + girls) portion of the 47-school Welch Village Invitational Friday, January 19. Stillwater was first in the combined event with 1345 points. The Wildcats were second with 1269 and Brainerd was third with 1186.
A total of 12 skiers (6 girls and 6 boys) from each school competed in the meet. The six skiers were divided into two three-skier teams. The three skiers on team #1 competed on a longer course than the three on team team #2. The top 10 finishers on each course were awarded medals.
The two Wildcat girls teams combined for first place with 662 points. Stillwaters' 658 earned the Ponies second place and Brainerd was third with 645.
Individually, Simone Raedeke finished ninth on the longer course to earn a medal. Sarah Bottjen was 22nd and Melinda Beyer was 37th on the same course. Competing on the short course, Katelyn Garbe was the winner, while Katherine Boyer also earned a medal for third place. Teammate Katherine Wright finished 46th.
The CL-SCF boys collected 607 points, which put them in third place behind Stillwater (687) and Bloomington Jefferson (631).
Dominick Raedeke finished 10th on team #1 (long course) to earn a medal. Dan Sandgren (14th) and Mitch Peterson (59th) also skied the long course. Andrew Wagner won the short course event. Steve Wagner (21st) and Gus Garbe (68th) completed team #2 for the Wildcats.
